We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of SCVC Honorary Member Carl Babb.
Carl D. Babb, 82, of Fullerton, CA, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Orange, CA, after a long battle with COPD and Lewy Body Dementia. Born on December 22, 1941, to William Owen and Delia Babb, Carl was raised in rural Independence, KS. After graduating from Independence High, Carl joined the U.S. Navy in 1960, serving President Kennedy for four years while stationed in Long Beach, CA. On September 1, 1962, Carl married Ginny Baklenko, and together they raised two children, Renee and Mike, in Fullerton, CA.
Carl dedicated many years to working as a high school football coach until his retirement in 2017. He also spent much of his time as a bird dog trainer and GSP breeder, competing in local, regional, and national field trials with his German Shorthair Pointers ("GSPs"). As an active member of the American Kennel Club (AKC), Carl often served as a judge in national bird dog competitions. Whether training hunting dogs or preparing for field trials, he loved running his "girls."
Carl is survived by his wife, Ginny; his brother, Blaine; his son, Mike; daughter-in-law, Laura; and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Austin, and Easton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Donna Fox; his brother, Gary Babb; and his daughter, Renee Babb.
During this difficult time, we ask that you keep our Grandma Ginny in your thoughts, as her care is ongoing and costly. Our family deeply appreciates your kindness and concern. In lieu of flowers, we would be honored if you shared memories of Carl and considered making a contribution to his Ever Loved Memorial Profile:
