- AKC Event Trends: Entry numbers for 2024 are up 4%, with an 11% increase in events. Sports like CAT (+20%), Fast CAT (+18%), and Lure Coursing (+15%) are leading the growth, while Conformation is slightly down (2%). Agility entries have increased by 4%.
- Upcoming Major Events: Agility Nationals in March 2025 will be filmed for ESPN. The inaugural Rally Champion Invitational will be held in December 2024, featuring top Rally competitors.
- New Titles and Programs: The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy title will be available starting January 2025. Owners can apply to have the suffix title "STR" added to their dog's record for past or future achievements.
- Pet Industry Trends: While sales of pets and supplies have declined post-pandemic, services, nutrition, and prescription sales continue to grow.
- AKC DNA Program: AKC introduced the DNA + Health test kit, combining health and genetic traits testing for $135.99. Proceeds help fund the AKC Canine Health Foundation, which has awarded over $3.1 million in new grants for 2024.

Premiums are ready for the Double Double Hunt Test in December! You can expect double the ribbons and double the passes at the South Coast Vizsla Club (SCVC) and German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Southern California (GSPCSC) Double-Double Hunt tests in California City, CA on Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8th, 2024. New this year, Junior Handlers may run free of charge. Must be the registered owner and have a Junior Handler number to qualify. Saturday evening the SCVC will be hosting a Tri-Tip BBQ. Bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share. It is always delicious and fun! Event hoodies and long sleeved T-shirts available for pre-sale. Please send in your entries early, as we have had a wait list in the past. We look forward to seeing you and your dogs out in the desert!
